What If I Don't Like Tracking Calories?
The good news is there are several ways you can track your Daily Intake. Scanning apps, photo apps, and even good old pen and paper. The 'meh' news is you need to track your intake in some way.
Commit to it first or you'll get annoyed quickly. I have heard folks say they don't like inputting everything they eat into an app. "It's tedious." "It takes too long." "I'm too busy." To that, I am telling you I did it every single day for over two years with two kids and a full-time job while working on my bachelor's degree. I felt all of those things and I promise, I get it.
The big thing though, is it is important to see what you are taking in daily if you are serious about your goals. Your coach needs to know, but you need to know more. I remember when I would do this and cheat myself. I wouldn't log the cookie I took or write down the roll of Smarties I grabbed on my way out the door. Those are little things that are big setbacks. It didn't take me long to realize not only was I not being truthful to my dietician, I was not being honest with myself. If it wasn't logged, it didn't happen. Yeahhhhhh....no. Log it!
Here comes my personal experience insight. Through the many, many apps I have paid for (Noom, MyFitness Pal, Weight Watchers, etc.), here is my takeaway:
If You Are Okay Logging Your Food
I highly recommend an app called 'MacrosFirst.' I use the free version; it collects all of macros for the day and even some micros! You can scan foods in the free version which most of the other apps I've tried would make me pay for. It looks like this:
